Despite the bitter cold of the past few weeks, change is in the air: Evil Twin Motorsports is moving up to H2 to play with the big boys.  With this different class comes some different rules, the biggest of which is the minimum weights.  For now, the same motor will remain in the car, which drops the minimum weight from 2150 lb in H4 to 2000 lb in H2.  Along with removing all the ballast, I’m also now allowed to remove the headlights; black plastic covers take their place.  The factory drivers door impact beam has been removed, as well as the passenger side inner door skin and impact beam.  There’s a pretty hefty pile of metal accumulating behind the car!  It will need to lose all the weight it can though, because larger front brakes will be added later, which will mean more weight back on the car.  H2 rules also allow the rear quarter windows and hatch glass to be replaced with lexan, which would shed a ton of weight from the top of the car.  The hood may also be gutted and the battery moved to the rear of the car, helping to balance the weight a bit better.  At some point down the line I’ll decide on what motor to run, which may require adding some ballast back in the car.  But until then, weight will just keep getting chopped off!
