Monday is an odd time to be heading to the race track for the day, at least according to everyone I told about the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Monday or not, I can’t think of a bad time to be at a race track. Known as Lowe’s Motor Speedway for so many years, most people referred to it by it’s old name, as that is what it was called when we ran it last year in July. Last year was a hot Friday, and the CRX wound up losing the engine at the very end of the first race of the day due to the heat. But April in Concord, NC is much kinder than July, and this event was to be cooler, with a high of 70*F and no chance of rain. Read More
It was a fun and relatively relaxed weekend at VIR helping David Rhodes race his Honda CRX in PTE, and was made even better by a win on Saturday! David recently bought this CRX from AJ Nealy, and it came very well prepared to race in Honda Challenge H4, Performance Touring, and SCCA’s Improved Touring A. Per the SCCA ITA rules, it had a lot more “stuff” left in it, like trim panels, passenger side window, etc. In order to fit in the PTE class, David had to delete a few parts from the CRX, but a few small tweaks put him within the points for the class, and the car was ready to race.
